Holidays are time for us to a time to unwind, relax and maybe try a few new things that we haven’t done before.
If you are an avid fitness peep and like your regular routine of exercise, it can be challenging to maintain, or you might be like me and prefer to do absolutely nothing!
This said, whether you’re lounging on a beach or exploring a new city, keeping active can enhance your holiday experience and leave you feeling energised.
Here are some tips to help you keep up the exercise momentum during your next getaway:
Plan Ahead
Check out what facilities are available to you before you go. Look for gyms, parks, walking trails or activity centres.
Pack your kit
For example; trainers, swimsuit, workout clothes, walking shoes and either waterproof jacket or sunhat depending on where you’re going!
You may even want to back some resistance bands and a Pilates mat so you can do some basic moves in your room.
Explore Active Adventures
Try out something different such as hiking, biking, or water sports.
Explore nature reserves, scenic trails, or coastal paths to get your heart rate up while experiencing the beauty of your destination.
Be Flexible
While it’s essential to stay active during your holiday, it’s also important to be flexible with your exercise routine and go with the flow.
Enjoy the spontaneity of a morning walk before breakfast, a swim in the sea or dancing at a local festival.
Stay Hydrated and Nourished
Keep up your energy levels by staying hydrated and fuelling your body with nutritious foods as well as experimenting with the local cuisine.
You could always keep a stash of snacks in your pocket such as nuts, fruits or maybe a protein bar so you’ve always got something to hand.
Staying active on holiday doesn’t have to feel like a chore.
By planning ahead, embracing new experiences, and staying flexible with your routine, you can make exercise an enjoyable part of your travel adventures.
